Miracle Baby Survives After Pregnant UK Mom Falls From 17th Story

In a miraculous turn of events, a baby girl has defied the odds after surviving a fall from the tenth floor of Shakespeare Towers in Burmantofts, Leeds while in utero.

Baby Posie was born five weeks premature in the early hours of the morning following the devastating loss of her mother, Emma Atkinson, who fell from the tower block. Emma, a mom of five in her 30s, had been eagerly anticipating Posie’s arrival, even sharing her joy on social media just weeks before the incident. In a touching post, Emma proudly displayed her baby bump and expressed her happiness about welcoming a daughter, writing, “It’s a girl! I couldn’t be happier.”

The heartache deepened when Demi took to Facebook to share the unbearable news of her mother’s passing. In a raw and emotional tribute, she pleaded for Emma to return, saying, “I need you so much, Mum. Please come home. I just want to kiss you and hear your voice. I love you more than life, Mum.”

Demi later shared the first image of Posie, taken from her hospital cot, where she lies surrounded by medical tubes.

Local residents witnessed the aftermath of the tragedy. Mandy Shires described the scene as chaotic, noting that the window from which Emma fell had been wide open all day. “She had no chance falling from that height, but it can only be a miracle that her baby is alive. We are all praying the little girl makes it through,” she shared.

In the wake of the tragedy, Wakefield coroner’s court has confirmed it is reviewing the circumstances surrounding Emma’s death. Local leaders, including Leeds City Council Labour Councillor Luke Farley, described the event as “deeply distressing,” emphasizing that the area is home to many young families. Councillor Asghar Khan expressed his sadness over the shocking news, reinforcing the impact of the tragedy on the community.

A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police confirmed that they received a call regarding the incident. The police reported that Emma succumbed to her injuries at the scene, and that her baby, delivered shortly thereafter, is currently receiving critical care in the hospital. They also assured the community that there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding the incident, and that the Coroner’s Office had been notified.
