Pregnant Rihanna Turns Heads at The Smurfs Cannes Premiere in Custom Alaïa

Rihanna lit up the red carpet at the 78th Cannes Film Festival on May 19, 2025, as she arrived hand-in-hand with A$AP Rocky for the premiere of Highest 2 Lowest. The power couple brought star power and red carpet glamour to the Palais des Festivals, just weeks after the pop icon revealed she’s expecting baby number three.

Wearing a custom turquoise Alaïa gown in silk georgette, designed by Pieter Mulier, Rihanna delivered yet another unforgettable Maternity fashion moment. The gown featured soft draping and a flowing silhouette that highlighted her growing belly. She paired the look with a sky blue clutch, diamond cuff earrings, several jeweled rings, and sleek blue stilettos.

By her side, A$AP Rocky looked equally polished in a classic black Saint Laurent suit, a minimalist contrast to Rihanna’s bold color choice. The rapper, who shares two children with Rihanna—RZA, 3, and Riot Rose, 1—stood proudly next to her as cameras flashed and fans cheered.  Even holding an umbrella when the rain started.

Rihanna is set to star as Smurfette in the upcoming animated musical film Smurfs, scheduled for release on July 18, 2025. In addition to voicing the iconic character, she serves as a producer and has contributed original songs to the film’s soundtrack. Her latest single, “Friend of Mine,” marks her first new music release since 2022 and aligns with the movie’s family-friendly theme.

The film follows Smurfette as she leads the Smurfs on a mission into the real world to rescue Papa Smurf from the clutches of evil wizards Razamel and Gargamel. The voice cast includes John Goodman as Papa Smurf, James Corden, Sandra Oh, Octavia Spencer, and Nick Offerman, among others

The singer revealed her third Pregnancy earlier this month at the 2025 Met Gala, showing up well after most guests had walked the carpet—her signature move. In an unexpected twist, she debuted her bump in a structured gray bustier, a black floor-length skirt, and a cropped black jacket. The full ensemble, including her heels, tie, and wide-brimmed hat (designed in collaboration with famed milliner Stephen Jones), was custom Marc Jacobs.
